Summary Position Statement:

Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant completes the essential functions of the position as well as additional duties as assigned. The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounts receivable, rental and enterprise billing, account reconciliations and project support in addition to other accounting functions.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Ability to interface with others in a positive and friendly fashion.
  • Research accounting issues using available information resources.
  • Accurately assigns account coding to invoices and receipts.
  • Assist in preparation of schedules for annual audit.
  • Prepare customer invoices for data entry.
  • Performs projects for the Controller as needed.
  • Accurately post customer receipts.
  • Corporate credit card reconciliation and payment.
  • Prepare standard and recurring journal entries.
  • General bookkeeping for REACH for Housing.
  • Fixed assets recording.
  • End of month account reconciliations.
  • Understands and complies with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensures confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal/state law.
  • Maintains and promotes a positive working relationship with all employees.
  • Attends and participates in meetings, committees and training as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education: Bachelor degree in business, finance, or Accounting.

Minimum Experience: 2 years of general accounting experience required.

Substitution: Additional accounting experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year for year full-time equivalency basis if the experience developed skills and abilities associated with the required degree and vice versa.

TB clearance required within 30 days of hire.

Fingerprint and background check clearance required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Working knowledge of Windows based financial software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
  • A clear and logic thinker, proficient at mathematics
  • Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor setting at the REACH office. Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
