Summary Position Statement:

The Custodial Job Coach provides job support services to individuals within their employment setting. Custodial Job Coaches focus on individual work- related goals aimed towards increasing independence within the workplace.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Promote new learning skills, and help individuals attain the maximum level of independence by increasing productivity and helping develop strong work ethic (work tolerance, productivity, communication, transportation, dependability, self-care, etc.)
  • Incorporate REACH Inc.’s mission, core values, and service principles into daily interactions with staff, individuals, and employers.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Maintain strong communication with supervisor, co-workers, and individuals we serve.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the employer’s policies and procedures are upheld at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining great customer service with employer and building managers, security officers, and building personnel.
  • Attend various trainings regarding job coaching skills.
  • All Custodial Job Coaches are required to comply with the employer clothing policies. If a specific uniform is not required, then professional dress is necessary at all times. Sandals or open-toed shoes are prohibited.
  • Complete SDN’s that focus on job-related goals.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times.
  • Work side by side with individuals when necessary to model work performance.
  • Understand and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal/state law.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, committees, and trainings as assigned.
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional working relationship with all employees.
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Minimum Education: Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree OR any combination of experience and education which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position preferred. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of hire. TB, fingerprints, and background check required prior to employment.

Licensure: N/A

Minimum Experience: Six months experience (paid or unpaid) working with people with disabilities preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative.
  • Strong communication skills

Physical Requirements: Will require regular heavy lifting (50 lbs.). Ability to perform physical work, especially walking for long periods. Ability to communicate verbally, both in person and over the telephone. Ability to perform janitorial tasks as directed, as part of training provided to clients as they further develop job skills. Visual acuity necessary to perform job duties throughout the course of a normal workday.

Work Conditions: Work is performed at various locations throughout Juneau where REACH Custodial has contracts. The majority of these positions are inside office buildings. Occasionally the work will also be outdoors in all sorts of weather.
