Summary Position Statement:

Performs various building and ground maintenance duties. This includes cutting and trimming grass with specified power equipment, edging sidewalks, pulling weeds, raking lawn debris, and picking up trash. It may also include applying fertilizer, weed killer, and moss remover. This job performs various light maintenance duties, under direct supervision, such as paint preparation and clean up, unclogging drains, cleaning vehicles, etc.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Communicate with supervisor to receive and understand work assignments
  • Under close supervision, perform light maintenance duties such as prepare surfaces for painting, unclog drains, replace light bulbs
  • Assist with tasks such as cleaning vehicles, check for safety equipment, and catalog tools
  • Power wash buildings and sidewalks
  • Clean out roofing gutters
  • Cut grass with power mower
  • Trim grass with power trimmer
  • Rake lawn debris with hand and power rake
  • Pick up trash on lawn, in and under hedges, and in flower beds
  • Plant flowers and shrubs
  • Remove small trees
  • Trim hedges and bushes with manual and power equipment
  • Ensure proper care and use of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Apply lawn chemicals as requested
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Understand and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal/state law.
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional working relationship with all employees.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, committees and training as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education: Less than high school; no previous work experience required.

Criminal Background Check: Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Minimum Experience: Demonstration of ability to perform the job in a satisfactory manner.

Minimum Age: 18

Physical Requirements: Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary (more than 79%) of the job.

Working Conditions: Work is performed at facilities which REACH owns and has contracts. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
